John William Bailly works with Interns. The position is unpaid, however it does offer benefits.
TEACHING ASSISTANT/PEER MENTOR FOR ART IN MIAMI & MIAMI IN MIAMI
John William Bailly is an artist and professor in the FIU Honors College.
The Teaching Assistant will be registered for the free, zero credit IDH 3999. IDH 3999 does not count against earned credit but will be on the student’s official transcript.
REQUIREMENTS FOR TA
TA must be a current FIU student (undergraduate or graduate).
TA must have previously completed a class with Bailly.
BENEFITS FOR ART IN MIAMI & MIAMI IN MIAMI TA
TA will attend all class excursions for free. Art in Miami will visit the de la Cruz Collection, Frost Art Museum, Margulies Collection, Norton Museum, PAMM, Rubell Museum, and the Wolfsonian. Miami in Miami will visit Chicken Key, Deering Estate, Downtown, Everglades, Key Biscayne, Overtown, Vizcaya, South Beach.
TA will earn real life teaching experience in the field.
TA will be guaranteed a personalized and substantive letter of recommendation and add a great line on their resume, upon successful completion of the assistantship.
The TA will have the opportunity to develop contacts within FIU and Miami-Dade County.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ART IN MIAMI & MIAMI IN MIAMI TA
TA must attend all class meetings.
TA will assist students with their class webpages.
TA will communicate class times, and due dates with students on WhatsApp.
TA will coordinate students for class excursions to keep class on schedule.
TA will take photos of class on excursions and upload a selection to Miami in Miami.
TA will track attendance.

Honors College student mentors are responsible for:
Attending all class sessions
Leading ice breakers and group activities
Co-facilitating discussions and class activities with Honors College faculty fellow
Interacting with students outside of class including, but not limited to group chats
The Honors College student mentor program helps students:
Develop leadership, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
Receive credit for an Honors internship course
Receive credit towards 2023-2024 Engagement Pathway or Service Hour
