Bailly Lectures

John William Bailly is a British-French-American artist, professor, and public speaker. Bailly has taught courses on the culture and history of France, Italy, Spain, and the US for over twenty years in the FIU Honors College at Florida International University in Miami. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Florida International University .

Before presenting lectures on cruises, Bailly was the Faculty Director of France, Italy, and Spain study abroad for 15 years. He now teaches two experiential course in Miami. Bailly is a practicing artist, who exhibits his work internationally.

This site consists to the Lecture Notes and Selected Source Materials for the lectures of Professor John William Bailly of the FIU Honors College. Bailly teaches interdisciplinary honors courses at Florida International University in Miami. These courses aim for teachers and students to extend out of the comfort zone of their respective majors and explore commonalities and contradictions across disciplines. Bailly holds an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale. He is not an historian, nor is he a writer, hence the lecture notes consist of primary source documents, quotations, and links to reliable online sources.

Professor Bailly teaches Art in Miami and Miami in Miami. He was the Faculty Director of France, Italy, and Spain study abroad from 2009-2023.
