Studio Internship with Bailly

John William Bailly works with Interns. The position is unpaid, however it does offer benefits.

STUDIO INTERNSHIP
John William Bailly is an artist and professor in the FIU Honors College. This Studio Internship will see the student assist Professor Bailly in the making of artwork at his Jungle Studio. The Internship may also involve administrative work in the preparation of exhibitions or lectures.

The Studio Intern will be registered for the free, zero credit IDH 3999. IDH 3999 does not count against earned credit but will be on the student’s official transcript.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDIO INTERNSHIP
SI must be a current FIU undergraduate student.
SI must have previously completed a class with Bailly.
SI must commit to 100 hours for the semester.

BENEFITS FOR STUDIO ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP
SI will earn experience in the making and exhibiting of artwork.
SI will have the opportunity to join artistic excursions with Professor Bailly.
SI will have the opportunity to foster relationship with individuals in museums, parks, and education.
SI will be guaranteed a personalized and substantive letter of recommendation and add a great line on their resume, upon a successful completion of the internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES/POSSIBILITIES FOR STUDIO ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP
The activities that a Studio Intern can undertake are wide and varied. Each internship will be adapted to the preferences and schedule of each Studio Intern.
SI may work with artistic materials.
SI may go hiking and kayaking on drawing excursions.
SI may assist in transferring drawings and paintings into a digital format.
SI may transfer drawings onto paintings.
SI may mix and clean oil paints and brushes.
SI may create PowerPoints.
SI may download and organize digital images.
SI must commit to 100 hours total for the semester. These will be completed both in-person and remotely.

Honors College student mentors are responsible for:
Attending all class sessions
Leading ice breakers and group activities
Co-facilitating discussions and class activities with Honors College faculty fellow
Interacting with students outside of class including, but not limited to group chats

The Honors College student mentor program helps students:
Develop leadership, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
Receive credit for an Honors internship course
Receive credit towards 2023-2024 Engagement Pathway or Service Hour
