Over Under Paris as Text

MESSAGE TO STUDENTS AND CONTRACT/ESSAY MILL WRITERS
The FIU Student Conduct and Honor Code define plagiarism as “The deliberate use and appropriation of another’s work without any indication of the source and the representation of such work as the Student’s own.” Submitting the work of someone else as your own work is plagiarism. This is a serious instance of Academic Misconduct by the student. In Florida, Essay Mill/Contract Cheating sellers are in violation of Florida Statute 877.17: “It shall be unlawful for any person or business entity to sell, offer to sell, or advertise for sale any term paper, thesis, dissertation, essay, or report” Read more

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Each student will select one individual metro stop in Paris. During the first week of classes, the student will visit that metro stop and reflect upon their first impressions of Paris by way of the metro stop.

Students must go above ground and walk in at least a quarter mile radius around the metro stop. What is the neighborhood like? What type of businesses or monuments are there? Restaurants? Street food? How is Paris different than Miami? How is Paris similar to Miami? Which social and economic issues does the neighborhood make you reflect upon? Which cultural issues engage you?

Paris Metro Map, 2023.

PARIS METRO STOPS
Below are 18 suggested metro stops to select from chosen by Professor Bailly. No two students may select the same stop. If a student wishes to explore a metro stop not listed here that is fine, as long as no other student has selected that stop.

Abbesses
Cité
Champ de Mars
Charles de Gaulle Étoile
Concorde
Denfert Rochereau
Gare d’Austerlitz
Les Halles
Luxembourg
Madeleine
Odéon
Palais Royal
République
Saint Germain des-Prés
Saint-Michel
Saint-Paul
Trocadero
Tuileries

METRO STOP SELECTION PROCESS
Professor Bailly will create a “Paris Metro Claims” chat on WhatsApp.
At a specific time, in class, the claims will open.
Students will post their one metro stop pick. Students are to post only their first choice.
The student that posts a metro stop first on the chat, as seen on Bailly’s phone, will get that Metro stop.
If the metro stop a student wants is already claimed, the student must repost a new choice.
